Ettore Roesler Franz was one of the first artists in the world to use the camera (a kinegrafo) to better focus on every detail of his views and portraying his characters always during their most humble functions.

Most of the photos are owned by Alinari Foundation and are available on the Foundation website by typing “Roesler” in the bar at the top left.
