Instead, I was very glad to receive your letter, however you harmed me and,\u00a0since\u00a0I always got revenge with\u00a0ladies because you\u00a0thought\u00a0bad of me, I’ll make sure taht my\u00a0answer would cause\u00a0a\u00a0torment of\u00a0ideas in you and\u00a0without running\u00a0for long, I’ll get down to work.<\/em><\/p>\n I will speak\u00a0of my works.\u00a0Shortly after your dep<\/em>arture,<\/em>\u00a0I finished\u00a0a large swamp of\u00a0Castel Fusano, here\u00a0below\u00a0a sketch.<\/em><\/p>\n Ah it\u00a0<\/em>failed\u00a0badly!\u00a0All the better,\u00a0so you’ll have to\u00a0torture yourself\u00a0more and\u00a0more\u00a0to understand\u00a0what I\u00a0wanted to do.\u00a0I sent\u00a0this\u00a0watercolour at the International Exhibition\u00a0in\u00a0London\u00a0and it rem<\/em>ained\u00a0in that city.<\/em><\/p>\n For\u00a0the same Exposure I made the\u00a0watercolor\u00a0below\u00a0“A mountain road”\u00a0which remained\u00a0in London\u00a0as the first.<\/em><\/p>\n After some time\u00a0I made\u00a0other three that I\u00a0sketch\u00a0below, just to\u00a0mitigate yourtorment.<\/em><\/p>\n With the first\u00a0I wanted to represent\u00a0a\u00a0view of the Lago di Castello that\u00a0currently\u00a0is in Petersburg\u00a0along with various other works that\u00a0I will show you\u00a0later.<\/em><\/p>\n The\u00a02nd\u00a0would be\u00a0a swang\u00a0of Maccarese.\u00a0This\u00a0watercolour\u00a0I\u00a0succeeded turned out better\u00a0than many others\u00a0and\u00a0currently\u00a0stands\u00a0at\u00a0Trieste Exsposure.<\/em><\/p>\n The\u00a03rd\u00a0represents some houses\u00a0outside the\u00a0porta San Rocco\u00a0in Venice\u00a0and it’s in\u00a0Petersburg.<\/em><\/p>\n After having made\u00a0these works\u00a0I got sick.\u00a0It was\u00a0the\u00a0beginning of\u00a0July\u00a0and I went to\u00a0study\u00a0at Villa Borghese,\u00a0when caught\u00a0a fever that ended\u00a0up with\u00a0a\u00a0bad\u00a0throat; I recovered\u00a0after two weeks\u00a0in Tivoli, with\u00a0good intention\u00a0to make\u00a0a\u00a0wide artistic tour, but\u00a0I got sick again in\u00a0Tivoli\u00a0so hardly\u00a0that\u00a0I stood\u00a0there\u00a0a\u00a0whole\u00a0month\u00a0without being able to\u00a0do anything.<\/em><\/p>\n I quit\u00a0the idea of going\u00a0around\u00a0and\u00a0I went back\u00a0to Rome. It is really for this reason that Ettore Roesler Franz chose this place (currently the\u00a0zone around Piazza\u00a0Nicosia in Rome, – ed.) like\u00a0subject for two watercolors: “From the Prati\u00a0of Castello. The Tiber\u00a0with old houses of the Street of Monte Brianzo, to the left one of the posterules, in the back on\u00a0the right the Tower of the Monkey<\/em>“, (1888) and “Posterula near Monte Brianzo”<\/em> (1888).
